Primarily a flood-control basin to control floodwater runoff, the Sepulvida Basin serves a broad range of other uses for the city, from wildlife refuge to recreational space (it houses a fishing lake, golf course, and protected parks), to water treatment facility. Many river advocates cite the basin as one of the best examples of multi-purpose green public space in the region, the Basin affording residents both natural habitats and urban recreation areas.

Below, an audio interview with City Project Executive Director Robert Garcia who discusses the potential of a multi-benefit green space. An audio interview with the Founder of The River Project, Melanie Winter, who explains Bull Creek, a revitalization project within the Sepulveda Basin. Also included, a slideshow of the Sepulveda Basin.

Multi Benefit Green Space
