Your Turn to Care
The Choice of Palliative Care: Cora Kreachbaum
For more many years Cora Kreachbaum has successfully battled breast cancer. But now the 65-year-old retired nurse is losing that fight; the cancer has traveled to other parts of her body. The upbeat and eternally optimistic Cora has made a choice to receive palliative care at home to manage the pain during the time she has left. A "palliative care team" of health professionals and volunteers visit her on a regular basis, providing good care and comfort. Cora, her devoted husband Terry and their children choose to celebrate her life while she is alive, holding what they call "living wakes." It's a party focusing on quality time with beloved family and friends.
