Your Turn to Care

Sibling Squabbles

Caregiving for a parent can bring out long dormant sibling rivalries. Often the caregiving duties for mom or dad fall the eldest daughter or the daughter without children. Author Gail Sheehy argues against the impulse to "go it alone" rather than engage the help of sisters and brothers with whom you may have "issues." Sheehy tells "Your Turn to Care" the job of caregiving demands so many skills; it is wise to recruit the help of as many family members as possible, as early as possible.
