Your Turn to Care
Life After Caregiving
Gail Sheehy describes for "Your Turn to Care" the importance of rest and recuperation on all levels, physically and emotionally, in the aftermath of caregiving. The enormous stress all caregivers experience must be balanced with a time for healing so re-entry into a more normal life can occur when the caregiving is done. While feelings of guilt about the job a caregiver has done are not uncommon, Ms. Sheehy emphasizes the main feeling should be one of celebration for a difficult job well done, caring for a loved one in their final years.
