St. Mary's Hospital Opens
In 1889, the Sisters of St. Francis, W.W. Mayo and his sons Will and Charlie open the brand new St. Mary's Hospital. The Sisters, who were trained as teachers—not nurses, could not have asked for a harder test of their faith.
