Video: An Interview with Surfer Kathy Kohner Zuckerman, the Real 'Gidget'

When shooting our paddleboarding episode this summer we ran into Kathy Kohner Zuckerman. Who is she? She's a living surfer legend. If you recognize the 1959 movie Gidget (or the television series), she was the inspiration for it all two years earlier when her father read her journal about trips to the male-dominated surf beaches of Malibu and penned the novel Gidget: The Little Girl with Big Ideas. We had a short chat, which can be seen above.
