Master Of The Spoken Word

Today's rappers may rhyme on a dime, but it would be hard to compete with the genius of the now 100-year-old Norman Corwin. For those like me who missed the golden age of radio, Norman Corwin's radio plays in the 1940's made him the Shakespeare of the airwaves. Who else could write lines like this from a prayer for peace at the end of WWII: "Lord God...post proof that brotherhood is not so wild a dream as those who profit from postponing it pretend." Wow. I met this legendary writer when he came to the KCET studios in May. Here are his thoughts on today's media and America's future.
