'Chasing Ice' Director on Climate Change: Seeing is Believing
The world's glaciers are melting at an astonishing rate because of climate change. It's believed these massive glacial melts are one reason why the weather has become extreme.
About a decade ago, photographer James Balog realized that people were tuning out scientific studies and not believing the dire warnings from climate scientists. He decided to give them visual proof.
Balog installed cameras on glaciers around the world that could automatically take pictures. He then stitched those pictures into a time-lapse video. The results are shocking.
Madeleine spoke with the filmmaker, Jeff Orlowski, in the studio.
