Brian Jenkins on Terrorism
It was 10 years ago that terrorists brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Center and killed and wounded many others in coordinated attacks on the United States. With the anniversary approaching, we will be bringing you a special series of SoCal Rewind posts taking us back to that grim date, September 11, 2001, and also revisiting the many conflicts and issues that rippled out from it — two wars, the tug-of-war between increased security and the right to privacy, ethnic and religious tensions here at home.
For the first post, we bring you an interview with renowned terrorism expert Brian Jenkins from 2006, exactly five years after the original attacks. Val Zavala conducted the interview for Life & Times.
SoCal Rewind is an on-going series bringing you past reports on the issues of today. By drawing on KCET's extensive archive of Southern California news, culture and public affairs, we seek to inform current events by providing a little historical perspective, and maybe answer the question: Is there anything new under the SoCal sun?
