Hernan Barangan's Road Rebellion: The West
Hernan Barangan's film,“Road Rebellion” will air on KCET on October 8.
Hernan Barangan, a teen cancer survivor, has a mission. Supported by Teen Cancer America, Baragan will go out to 50 states to find 50 teens to film 50 stories of teens with cancer so that the united voice of young people across the U.S. can be heard. SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
We met Kalina, ovarian cancer survivor, who is an amazing rock climber!
BOISE, IDAHO
Spoke to Hanna who is recovering from a Brain Tumor, and Trevor, a young cancer survivor who is doing a lot of local activism (Below).
BILLINGS, MONTANA
We filmed with Will, who was diagnosed with ALL at age 15 and has a great high school band.
RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA
We filmed with Dejon, brain cancer survivor who loves going fishing!
FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA
We met Makenzie who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
Thanks to Amanda Woelk at Children’s Mercy, we met Isaiah who is 15 and was just diagnosed only a month ago. Also Brittany who is still in treatment (Below).
AMES, IOWA
We caught up with Derek who is a freshman at Iowa State University, nasopharyngeal carcinoma survivor, and engineering/journalism double major.
OMAHA, NEBRASKA
Thanks to Jeannine and Peter at Nebraska Med we met Dominick whose High School Football career was interrupted by cancer and Kevon who beat a really advanced brain tumor (Below).
CHEYENNE, WYOMING
We interviewed Donovan, and filmed him as he was getting his first tattoo to commemorate his 3rd year anniversary cancer free.
LOVELAND, COLORADO
We filmed with Tristan who was a skater before he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Now that he can’t skate anymore he has combined his love for skateboards with his interest in cameras.
DENVER, COLORADO
We filmed at First Descents headquarters with Wildflower, who had been a Kayak group leader helping young people with cancer before suddenly last year he found out he had cancer in his thyroid and lymph nodes.

“Road Rebellion” follows filmmaker and leukemia survivor Hernan Barangan as he aims to change the face of US healthcare for teenagers and young adults with cancer. In 2015, Barangan set out on a quest to film the voices of young cancer patients from every state in the country. Their stories raise the profile of their unique challenges. The filmmaker plans to create a lasting legacy for the young people of the future.
