About Rebecca Murga
Rebecca Murga (she/her) is a Chicago-born WGA writer whose work is deeply influenced by her Puerto Rican heritage and military background. Currently, she writes for ABC’s "Will Trent" and has previously contributed to Apple TV+’s "Swagger," executive produced by Kevin Durant. Her feature writing credits include projects for A&E/Lifetime and New Line Cinema, and she is developing a new television series with Spike Lee. As a director and producer, Rebecca has created commercials, documentaries, and branded content for major clients including ABC, CBS, MLB, NBA, Comcast, ESPN, HBO, AT&T, Walgreens, the Ad Council, and A&E Networks.
Rebecca’s career began in live sports production before she joined the military after 9/11, serving as a Public Affairs Officer in the U.S. Army with deployments to Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. She was awarded a Bronze Star for her service with Special Operations Command in Afghanistan. After the military, she transitioned to Spanish news, covering impactful stories such as Special Forces operations against drug cartels in Mexico and Central America.
Committed to mentorship and advocacy, Rebecca actively supports LGBTQ+ and BIPOC artists through her work with non-profits. She has served as the Director of Communications for Veterans in Media & Entertainment, the Director of AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women, and as a teaching artist at the Sundance Collab.
