Apolinaria Lorenzana

Apolinaria Lorenzana was an orphan, sent to California from Mexico in 1800 to help Spain's efforts to populate the region. After Mexico won independence from Spain, Apolinaria became a Rachera, and the padres at Mission San Diego de Alcala awarded her two ranches for her years of service and devotion.
