About Rene Fisher Mims

Rene Fisher-Mims established S.H.I.N.E. MUWASI to spread knowledge of West African drum culture to women in her community. The organization is intended to inspire women of African descent to play the drums and become aware of joyful West African drum culture through education and performance.

'Mama Nene' also brings the "power of the drum" to young people suffering from emotional pain and mental illness, supportive housing communities and anyone in need of inspiration.
