Fine Cut Speaker Series 2022

Sterling Anderson won a NAACP Image Award for "The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn" and is a two-time nominee. He is also a winner of the Movieguide Faith & Freedom award and a Christopher award for "The Gabby Douglas Story."

Evan Ball is a television writer and producer living in Los Angeles, CA. After a near decade working as a crew member on various productions early in his career, he quit his job and attended UCLA's MFA screenwriting program to pursue his long-intended goal of being a screenwriter. Originally, he intended to focus exclusively on feature films, however he fell in love with television during his time at UCLA and never looked back. He is currently writing and producing on season 2 of the acclaimed Paramount Plus TV show, "Mayor of Kingstown."

Laurel Brock is an Art Director and Production Designer based in Los Angeles. With over a decade of experience working in the entertainment industry, Laurel has a wide variety of experience working in both television and film. Her most recent credits include art directing for the television shows "The Wonder Years" (2021), "Abbott Elementary," "Black-ish," "America’s Got Talent" and "The Talk."

Pat Hazell is one of the original writers of NBC’s Seinfeld, a Tonight Show veteran, a critically acclaimed playwright, and contributing commentator to National Public Radio. His 35+ years as a writer, director, and producer have made him the go-to guy for custom theatrical entertainment. Currently the Chief Creative Officer of Sweetwood Creative in Austin, Texas.

Fine Cut Speaker Series 2022

Andrew Chung is a Writer/Director based in Toronto, Canada. His films, "Ma," "Lovebites" and "White Elephant" have been broadcast on Air Canada, CBC, and the Super Channel. His web series, Millions, won him Best Director at the Marseille Web Fest in France. Andrew is also the Co-Founder of the Asian Canadian Film Alliance, a community advocacy group dedicated to championing Asian Canadian voices in film, and is a Board Member of the Racial Equity Screen Office.

Larry Laboe is Co-Founder and Executive Director of NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA), an organization committed to highlighting and connecting emerging filmmakers and storytellers worldwide.

Gabriela Ortega is an award-winning writer/director and actor born and raised in the Dominican Republic. She is a USC graduate, a 2021-2022 Sundance Institute "Art of Practice" fellow, and is based in Los Angeles. Her short film "Huella" was produced as part of Lena Waithe’s Rising Voices fellowship and was an official selection of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. The short is being turned into a feature film and won development funds in the inaugural NewNarratives grant cycle created by WarnerMedia OneFifty and NewFilmmakers LA.
