Former Mayor James Hahn: Dodgers Bat Boy for a Day

The Dodgers’ first game in Los Angeles was against the San Francisco Giants on April 18, 1958. Former Los Angeles mayor James Hahn was designated the honorary Dodgers bat boy for Opening Day at seven years old. He describes his disappointment upon realizing he wouldn’t be sitting in the dugout, carrying the bats all day.
