Rattlesnake Park
Play the L.A. River is a come-one-come-all project by the arts collective Project 51 -- a collective of L.A. River-loving artists, designers, planners, writers, educators -- that invites Angelenos to explore, enjoy, reclaim, and reimagine the mighty L.A. River as a grand civic space that can green and connect our communities.

Enter at the Great Heron Gates, where the bikeway leaves the 5 Freeway and slides quietly thru Frogtown past a delightful string of pocket parks.
Coming from the north from Atwater Village or Glassell Park, or from to the south from Silver Lake or Echo Park, this pocket park would be the closest entry point onto the L.A. River bike path. Opened in 1997, the park was created and is maintained by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. From here it's an easy to trek to Marsh Park, Elysian Valley Gateway Park, Steelhead Park, and Egret Park, all located along the river in Elysian Valley.
