Mar Vista Gardens Rec Center - Estrella Sanchez

At the center of the Mar Vista Gardens housing project is its recreation center. It has been a great place to build community among its residents. A decade ago, Mar Vista Gardens used to be a center for gang activity, but the violence has shifted to more harmonious living where youth and adults come out to participate in sports programs and use these great facilities. Estrella Sanchez grew up coming to this center and knew of the old Mar Vista Gardens. She now works at the recreation center as an assistant, working with children.
