Completed in 1929 and declared "Historic-Cultural Monument #164 of the City of Los Angeles" in 1976, the Glendale-Hyperion Viaduct was built to alleviate the traffic between the cities of Glendale and Los Angeles. The bridge is composed of one main artery, which was once an electric railway underpass and a street grade separation. Merrill Butler, one of LA's preeminent engineers, once described the viaduct as "an architectural jewel in a landscape setting."
Below is a video portrait, a sixty second still shot, of the Glendale-Hyperion Viaduct.
