Caballero Creek Confluence
Play the L.A. River is a come-one-come-all project by the arts collective Project 51 -- a collective of L.A. River-loving artists, designers, planners, writers, educators -- that invites Angelenos to explore, enjoy, reclaim, and reimagine the mighty L.A. River as a grand civic space that can green and connect our communities.

Looks like an empty lot, but can you see it as a glorious park? That's the plan, and it's going to happen. Like, totally.
Caballero Creek begins at El Caballero Country Club, built on land originally owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs of Tarzan fame -- which of course became the namesake of Tarzana. Like many tributaries of the L.A. River, the creek was channelized in concrete by mid-century, and the 1.55 acre site at the confluence has been en empty, city-owned property with weeds and asphalt, for years. But soon this plot of land will turn into a riverfront park with 670 feet of river frontage, restored habitat, and wetlands that will filter urban runoff. Located between Reseda Park and the Sepulveda Basin, this will bring a welcome option to enter the L.A. River bike path for those living close by.
