Highland Park, Chapter 1 has Launched! Go Explore »
In Northeast Los Angeles, between Downtown and Pasadena, lies one of the oldest and most intriguing neighborhoods of the city: Highland Park. Its built environment and proximity to the Arroyo attracted a constant stream of settlers - from the Native-Americans, to rancheros, and east coast eccentrics - that would significantly modify the city's future template. Through seven weekly chapters, we will explore the people, the places, and the ideas that have made Highland Park a magnet for innovation, resistance and pride.
The installment is produced in collaboration with local historians, archivists, artists, business owners, long-time residents--Nicole Possert, Kim Walters, Jeffrey Chapman, Charles Fisher, Suzanne Lummis, David Judson, among many others that contribute to this rich tale.
EACH WEEK, starting October 10th, we will launch a chapter:
