California Coastal Trail
Bici Centro: Connecting Santa Barbara's Bicycling Community
Season 1
Episode 22
Part of the California Coastal Trail, the Coastal Route is the heart of the bicycling system in Santa Barbara. Everyday, thousands of commuters, students, and tourists hit this popular trail that runs along the shores of Santa Barbara County. The Coastal Route, however, is incomplete, and organizations like the Bici Centro Community Bike Repair Shop and Education Center are advocating for its full realization. Working to make bicycling safe and accessible to community members, Bici Centro is ultimately pushing to make Santa Barbara a model bike-friendly city. "If we could get a healthy portion of the population bicycling," says Ed France of the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition, "it will become safer for everyone."
