Learn about the rich history of the Black Church in Los Angeles, exploring its plurality and impact in Southern California. PBS SoCal will screen segments of “The Black Church: This is Our Story, This is Our Song”, An intimate four-hour series from Henry Louis Gates, Jr., The Black Church: This Is Our Story, This Is Our Song will explore the 400-year-old story of the black church in America, the changing nature of worship spaces, and the men and women who shepherded them from the pulpit, the choir loft, and church pews.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Lorn Foster (Emeritus Professor of Politics, Pomona College) and will feature panelists Jackie Broxton (Biddy Mason Foundation), Pastor Eddie Anderson (McCarty Memorial Christian Church) and Tyree Boyd-Pates (Autry Museum).

The virtual screening event begins at 6pm PST. The feature-length documentary, “The Black Church: This is Our Story, This is Our Song” will premiere in Southern California on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. PT and Part Two on Wednesday, Feb. 17 on PBS SoCal

Registrants are encouraged to submit a video of their rendition of "Blessed Assurance", to screen at the event.
