Space and structure, fundamental components in construction, are analyzed when the work of nine multidisciplinary artists is brought together. 'October Surprise' at 323 Projects
Through Friday, November 30
The dialogue, performances and sound art curated by 323 Projects are available via phone and can be accessed 24 hours a day. An interactive element also allows audiences to record commentary through an answering machine system and become part of the current exhibition. 'October Surprise' is comprised of works associated with the American political system and freedom of speech that have been rotating a month before this year's presidential election. With just one week left of this presentation, take a listen to the new sound bites that have been added to the cycling selection.

'BLACK FRIDAY' film exhibition at Armory Center for the Arts
Friday, November 23 at 7 p.m.
Since Spring of this year the MIA (Moving Image Art) series, at the Pasadena location, has been staging screenings of experimental film and video art during the fourth Friday of each month. Tonight's after-Thanksgiving event is a presentation of international shorts that explore culinary practices, cultural customs and family dynamics.

The Pleasure Industry, or 10,080 Hours Aboard Cruise Ships at Machine Project

Los Angeles-based composer, James Klopfleisch traveled the world for more than a year working as a musician on cruise ships. Here, the artist shares sound recordings collected during his voyages that document the transitory life encountered above such vessels.
