North Shore: The Ambulant Poetry Project

Nuestro Lugar: North Shore is the first resident-designed, culture-driven, community development project in the rural, migrant community of North Shore, California. Over the course of a year, Artbound will chronicle Nuestro Lugar's various physical improvements, economic activity projects, and multi-faceted arts and culture initiatives that will use North Shore's assets as catalysts for change.

The recent Ambulant Poetry project was a series of artistic endeavors positioned around the community of North Shore. Led by KDI artistic directors Shannon Scrofano and Evelyn Serrano and residents of North Shore, a group biked between various sites that presented artwork, including flags imprinted with images from the Salton Sea, musical performances, and poetry readings too. The projects were created in tandem with artists from CalState Long Beach, College of the Desert, and CalArts, as well as North Shore residents too.
