Where to Find an Arts Experience Near You
President of the California Institute of the Arts, Ravi Rajan put it succinctly when he said, "art is a fundamental human need." It is the vehicle in which students can express, feel, relate, learn and process — all of which contribute to the well-being and success of an individual. Unfortunately, there are a lot of barriers to students having access to arts education, especially in California where less than 40% of students are enrolled in any sort of arts class.
As schools provide less opportunity for students to experience the arts in the classroom, this creates a need for students to find the benefits of the arts elsewhere. This resource serves as a guide to available arts education programs in all 78 school districts in Los Angeles County. While it is not a complete or comprehensive list, it provides a number of affordable community programs, non-profit organizations and dance, art, culture, theater and music courses open for students to participate in.
