Roberta Flack Performs 'Angelitos Negros'
In this flashback episode of "Artbound Presents Studio A," soul songstress Roberta Flack performs "Angelitos Negros" during an intimate session at KCET in the 1970s. "Angelitos Negros" is from Flack's debut album, "First Take," released in 1969. The song is based on a poem, "Píntame angelitos negros," penned by Venezuelan writer Andrés Eloy Blanco. The poem is largely considered to be a hymn against racial discrimination and a call to recognize a multiracial society.
