Celebrating 50 Years of KCET
This year we celebrate 50 years of KCET, reflecting on the station's past milestones and accomplishments. For five decades, KCET has played an important role in the lives of many generations of Californians, as a source of information, learning, enlightenment, and inspiration. Soul songstress Roberta Flack performed on one of KCET's landmark shows, "Boboquivari" in the 1970s, showcasing her versatile vocals influenced by jazz, gospel and R&B. "Boboquivari" broadcast prominent folk, rock, jazz, and blues artists from the 1970s. Other featured artists included Cat Stevens, Kris Kristofferson, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and Lightin' Hopkins.
Watch "KCET: 50 Years at the Forefront," which celebrates half a century of groundbreaking programming that features important voices of the station's past and present, including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, journalist Bill Moyers, and political strategist Kerman Maddox.
