LOS ANGELES, Calif. – June 10, 2022 – The Public Media Group of Southern California (PMGSC), the parent company of PBS SoCal and KCET, announced that its Chief Creative Officer, Juan Devis, will be leaving the organization to pursue new ventures and independent projects both in the US and abroad. Mr. Devis, who joined KCET in 2005, will depart at the end of June 2022 and will continue some work with PMGSC as a consulting Executive Producer on a couple key shows.

For the last 15 years, Juan has been building a multi-platform premium content studio for the network. The series he developed and produced – Artbound, Studio A, Broken Bread, The Migrant Kitchen, Earth Focus - have garnered local and national acclaim, with over 20 Emmys, James Beard Awards, National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards, to name a few.

Juan spearheaded the transformation at the station, growing the digital and broadcast content output, adopting new production models and content strategies anchored around diversity, equity and inclusion and building production partnerships and collaborations outside of public media.

In addition to producing, Juan managed the network’s digital content offerings including online, the PBS App and the station’s YouTube channels. And his role in developing strategic partnerships with funders, organizations and independent production houses has ensured a continued slate of original content for both KCET and PBS SoCal well into the future.

“Juan has extraordinary talent and he’s been a brilliant creative leader at Public Media Group for over 17 years,” said Andrew Russell, President and CEO of the Public Media Group of Southern California. “With his leadership, his passion for Southern California and his ability as a storyteller, KCET launched many successful award-winning series that sparked local and national conversations and gave our community greater access to artists, arts organizations, community leaders and culture makers. Juan built an incredibly talented and strong team which I am confident will carry on the foundational work that enables PMGSC to continue telling our stories, perspectives, and narratives of a changing region. I will miss Juan greatly as a member of our station leadership team and I feel enormous appreciation for all he's contributed to public media and our organization.”

PMGSC has engaged a search firm to identify the new Head of Creative and Content.
