PBS SoCal and Variety Media Receive CINE Golden Eagle Award for Variety Studio: Actors on Actors

Television Series honored in a competitive field of films, series and documentaries

Los Angeles, May 11, 2018 – PBS SoCal (KOCE), the flagship PBS organization for Greater Los Angeles and Southern California, is pleased to announce its Variety Studio: Actors on Actors was honored with a CINE Golden Eagle Award for Professional Media in the category of “Variety, Talk Shows, and Special Events: Interview.” This is the second consecutive year the series has won this prestigious award.

Variety Studio: Actors on Actors is a series of one-hour specials that take you inside the biggest film and television programs of the year through candid conversations with some of today's most acclaimed actors discussing their craft and work. The series is co-produced for public broadcasting with Variety Media, LLC.

The following team is credited for creating the award-winning production: Brenda Brkusic, Executive Producer; Donna Pennestri, Executive Producer; John Ross, Executive Producer; Andrew Russell, Executive Producer; Jenelle Riley, Host/Producer; Rob Schroeder, Producer; Peter J. Nieves, Producer; Georg Kallert, Producer; Maris Malejs, Producer; Diana Nguyen, Producer; Jasmine Abghari, Associate Producer; and Michelle Merker, Associate Producer.

In their 61st year, The CINE Golden Eagle Awards honor originality and excellence in storytelling throughout the media industry. Selected by a distinguished panel of CINE Golden Eagle award-winning media makers and industry professionals, the honorees and finalists are the very best and most original productions in each category.

Two new episodes of Variety Studio: Actors on Actors will begin airing on PBS SoCal (KOCE) June 19 and 21 at 7 p.m. and will be distributed to PBS stations nationally (check local listings). Find more information at pbssocal.org/variety.
