KCETLink Media Group Series SOCAL CONNECTED and ARTBOUND Honored With Two Golden Mike Awards®

Burbank, Calif. - Jan. 23, 2016 - KCETLink, the national independent public media organization, is proud  to announce that it has received two awards from the 66th annual Golden Mike Awards®presented by the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California (RTNA). Formally announced at the awards ceremony at the Universal Hilton in Universal City on Jan. 23, 2016, the Golden Mike Awards® recognize excellence in broadcast journalism. 

SOCAL CONNECTED, KCET's weekly flagship news series, which launches its seventh season on Wed., Jan. 27, won for "Best News Public Affairs Program" for 2015. KCETLink's acclaimed multiplatform arts and culture series ARTBOUND won "Best News Videography of a Feature Story, Series, or Special" for the segment titled, "Junk Dada: The Stories Behind Noah Purifoy's Joshua Tree Sculptures." Both awards were in the Division A Television category.

To date, SOCAL CONNECTED has been honored with 26 Golden Mike Awards.

SOCAL CONNECTED is a multiple Emmy® and Peabody® award-winning news series offering Southern California viewers substantive, in-depth reporting on vital issues that impact the region including race relations, civil rights, technology, transportation, and environmental issues. The show will also cover the cultural, popular, and even quirky stories that impact living in Southern California. This season's SOCAL CONNECTED is made possible through the generous support of The Ahmanson Foundation, Chapman University and the MaddocksBrown Foundation. The new season of SOCAL CONNECTED premieres in Southern California on KCET, a service of KCETLink Media Group,Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at 8 p.m. PT.
