Los Angeles, Calif. – Jan. 4, 2023 – PBS SoCal, Southern California’s flagship PBS station and home of the entire PBS schedule for Southern California, announced today the lineup for the 17th season of the Emmy® Award-winning series VARIETY STUDIO: ACTORS ON ACTORS. Co-produced with Variety, the newest season of half-hour specials will offer audiences intimate and exclusive conversations between today's most accomplished Hollywood actors and this season’s potential Academy Awards® acting category frontrunners. All four 30-minute episodes of the new season will premiere locally in Southern California back-to-back on Thurs., Jan. 12 at 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on PBS SoCal with encores on Fri., Jan. 13 at 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 9: 30 p.m. on KCET. All episodes will stream on pbssocal.org following their premieres and will also be available to watch on the free PBS Video app.

VARIETY STUDIO: ACTORS ON ACTORS will be airing on PBS stations across the nation following the premiere on PBS SoCal. Variety’s Actors on Actors issue hit newsstands on December 7 with clips appearing on Variety.com.

The new season of the series will feature the following pairings and will air as listed below:

Thurs., Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. on PBS SoCal and Fri., Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. on KCET

This episode features Cate Blanchett (Tár) with Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Kate Hudson (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) with Glen Powell (Devotion, Top Gun: Maverick) and Laura Dern (The Son) with Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans).

Thurs., Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. on PBS SoCal and Fri., Jan. 13 at 8:30 p.m. on KCET

This episode features Carey Mulligan (She Said) with Margot Robbie (Babylon), Austin Butler (Elvis) with Janelle Monáe (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) and John Boyega (The Woman King) with Letitia Wright (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever).

Thurs., Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. on PBS SoCal and Fri., Jan. 13 at 9 p.m. on KCET

This episode features Viola Davis (The Woman King) with Jennifer Lawrence (Causeway), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All At Once) with Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Brendan Fraser (The Whale) with Adam Sandler (Hustle).

This episode features Ana de Armas (Blonde) with Eddie Redmayne (The Good Nurse), Paul Dano (The Fabelmans) with Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway) and Joe Alwyn (Stars at Noon, Catherine Called Birdy) with Paul Mescal (Aftersun).

In May 2019, VARIETY STUDIO: ACTORS ON ACTORS took home a Daytime Creative Arts Emmy award and has been awarded the Emmy for best entertainment programming at the 2015 and 2016 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards. Now in its 17th season, VARIETY STUDIO: ACTORS ON ACTORS, an interview special that features pairings of prominent actors discussing their craft, is produced by PBS SoCal in partnership with Variety Media, LLC.
