Los Angeles, Calif. – June 9, 2023 – PBS SoCal, Southern California’s flagship PBS station and the home to the entire PBS schedule, announced today the schedule for the eighteenth season of the Emmy® Award-winning series VARIETY STUDIO: ACTORS ON ACTORS. Co-produced by PBS SoCal, the new season of four half-hour specials will offer audiences exclusive, one-on-one conversations between actors from this year’s most notable television shows who are expected to contend this Emmy® season. Hosted by Variety Film Awards Editor Clayton Davis and Variety Chief Correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister, the new episodes will premiere back-to-back starting on Thurs., June 15 at 8 p.m. on PBS SoCal with encores on Wed., June 21 at 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on KCET. All episodes will stream on pbssocal.org following their premieres and will also be available to watch on the free PBS Video app.
In April, VARIETY STUDIO: ACTORS ON ACTORS received a nomination for this year’s 50th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The selection recognizes the locally produced production in the “Best Arts and Popular Culture Program” category. Details surrounding the award ceremony will be announced at a later date. In May 2019, Variety’s “Actors on Actors” on PBS took home a Daytime Creative Arts Emmy award and has been awarded the Emmy for best entertainment programming at the 2015 and 2016 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards.
The newest season of VARIETY STUDIO: ACTORS ON ACTORS will be airing on PBS stations across the nation starting in June (check local listings). Variety’s Actors on Actors issue hit newsstands on June 7. “Actors on Actors” is an interview special that features pairings of prominent actors discussing their craft and is produced by PBS SoCal in partnership with Variety Media, LLC.

This episode features Emily Blunt (“The English”) with Brian Cox (“Succession”), Taron Egerton (“Black Bird”) with Rachel Weisz (“Dead Ringers”) and Elle Fanning (“The Great”) with Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”).

This episode features Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian” and “The Last of Us”) with Steven Yeun (“Beef”), Melanie Lynskey (“Yellowjackets”) with Natasha Lyonne (“Poker Face”) and Kieran Culkin (“Succession”) with Claire Danes (“Fleishman is in Trouble”).
