Vilna Bashi Treitler is an award-winning sociologist and visual artist whose work focuses on race, ethnicity, and international migration. She has authored several articles and books, including “The Ethnic Project: Transforming Racial Fictions into Ethnic Factions,” included in the Zora Canon, a list of the top 100 books ever written by an African American woman.

Proposition 16 is intended to bring affirmative action back into the way Californians do business. I studied both the arguments for and against Proposition 16 and found that those against the ballot perpetuate several myths about affirmative action.
