Shirley Burman

Shirley Burman is a documentary photographer, artist and railroad women's historian. Working for the California State Parks in the 1970s as an illustrator and photographer, she was assigned to the California State Railroad Museum during its construction. She has lectured on women and the railroads at the Smithsonian, the Oakland Museum, Penn State University and others. She and her husband, Richard Steinheimer, collaborated on commercial photography with an emphasis on railroads.
