Top 6 Answers to the Question: Why Don't You Vote?

What's the excuse you use when you don't bother  to vote in an election? Or do you even bother to come up with one?

One of the internet's VlogBrothers, John Green, wanted to know what eligible voters would say to that question. So he asked his (millions of) followers on Twitter to respond.

He breaks down the six most frequently used excuses in a videoon their YouTube channel. In this 30-second excerpt he debunks one reason cited by a lot of people: "The system is corrupt."

Here is the rest of the list, but you'll really want to watch the full video to hear Green tear them apart:

  • I don't want to choose between the lesser of two evils.
  • I’m not informed on the issues
  • My vote doesn’t count
  • I can’t get to the polling place
  • I don’t know how to register

The other half of the Vlog Brothers, Hank, dispatches that last reason in his own video with a comprehensive explanation of How to Vote in California.

Here are links to both of the full videos on YouTube:

Why I Didn't Vote (And Six Reasons You Might Not)

How To Vote In California - did you know we're the only state where voters can send a tweet to find out where to vote? Hank also made videos explaining How to Vote in Every State so you can share with friends and family members.
