How am I registered? Where’s my polling place? Who am I voting for?

Waited ‘til the last minute to figure out the how and who of voting in the California primary on Tuesday? Ballot Brief found 5 websites that offer the information you need with a click and a few keystrokes.

First of all, are you registered and what party preference is on record? It’s important to know how you're registered because it makes a big difference in whether you can vote in the presidential primary. Check your status by going to the Secretary of State website and choosing the correct county. Here’s a shortcut for L.A. County voters.

As you’ve probably heard, only registered Republicans can vote in the Republican primary; if you signed up as “No Party Preference” or “Decline to State,” you can ask for a crossover ballot to vote in the Democratic, American Independent or Libertarian races. More details on that at the Registrar’s website here.

Don’t know where to go to vote? The CA Secretary of State’s site lets you type in your address to find your polling place. As long as you registered, you still have the right to vote even if your name doesn’t show up on the voters’ list. Just ask a poll worker for a provisional ballot. And don’t forget to bring your ID.

You can learn more about all the candidates and ballot measures on your local ballot at the non-partisan website Voter’s Edge.
