Shirley MacLaine will receive the 2017 KCET Cinema Series Lumière Award, honoring MacLaine’s illustrious career. KCET will also broadcast "Hollywood Idols Shirley MacLaine: Kicking Up Her Heels" that features acclaimed directors and actors discussing their experiences working with MacLaine on Saturday, March 4 at 7 p.m.
Shirley MacLaine is the sweetest, kindest, funniest, wackiest, sexiest, naughtiest alien I have ever known.
Reclining in the back seat of a UFO, she is liable to become seriously vocal regarding her belief in the afterlife, namely that we shall all re-incarnate in some other form. I have a strong suspicion, however, that when the moment arrives, Shirley will probably come back as herself. God, I hope so!
To Miss MacLaine, global warming is a real threat. But should you disagree, she’s liable to go into a deep trance and let loose a couple of glaciers. A warning: if you are taking her out to dine, you better eat fast, for when she’s consumed her own meal, she’ll start on yours! She steals meals like she steals scenes!

And now a “Lumiere” Award comes her way even though she brings her own light. I haven’t mentioned the word "talent" because we all know she's riddled with it. But we also know that this freckle-faced lass with the wicked smile weaves a special magic that is hers and hers alone.
