Gleason shares that, for years, she has felt there are stories she wanted to tell, stories about women who feel they are only a small part of someone else's bigger story.

"That film is about healing. In my Grotto, Alice's (Betsy Brandt) faith is restored not by a shrine, but by the faith of those around her who see her for who she really is. And there are small miracles. Sometimes your real life begins and you’re the last to know."

Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET's Must See Movies, moderated a Q&A with director/writer, Joanna Gleason.
