Star-Studded Cast in 'Queen Bees,' an Ensemble Comedy at the Virtual KCET Cinema Series on June 8

Q&A immediately following with director Michael Lembeck, producer/inspiration for the film Harrison Powell, and actor Loretta Devine.

While her house undergoes repairs, fiercely independent senior Helen (Oscar-winner Ellen Burstyn) reluctantly moves into a nearby retirement community. Once behind the doors of Pine Grove Senior Community, she encounters lusty widows, cutthroat bridge tournaments and a hotbed of bullying “mean girls” the likes of which she hasn’t encountered since high school. Ann-Margret, Jane Curtin, Loretta Devine, James Cann, Christopher Lloyd and Alec Mapa also star.

Screenwriter Donald Martin shared "As soon as I read the story, I knew it was something special,” he recalls. “What interested me was the idea that it is never too late. You are only as old as you feel, but we live in a society that can be somewhat ageist. I welcomed the opportunity to write a screenplay in which characters of a certain age behave more like adolescents."

Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A with director Michael Lembeck, producer and inspiration for the film Harrison Powell, and actor Loretta Devine.

The film screens on Tuesday, June 8 at 7 p.m. PDT. Only $10 per viewing link. Limited space available.
