Q&A immediately following with director Gavin Hood and producer Ged Doherty.

The true story of Katharine Gun, a British whistleblower who leaked information to the press about an illegal spy operation by the U.S. National Security Agency designed to push the UN Security Council into sanctioning the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Based on the book "The Spy Who Tried to Stop a War," this American-British political thriller is directed by Academy Award-winner Gavin Hood and stars Keira Knightley, Matt Smith, Matthew Goode, Rhys Ifans and Ralph Fiennes.

Director Gavin Hood dramatizes these real-life events and brings Gun to life as an ordinary woman in an extraordinary situation. Hood creates an intense story that begs the question: what would you do? Keira Knightley's performance as Gun allows the viewer a look into the psychology behind her decision to risk both her family’s safety and her own life. The result is a portrait of human nature that focuses on what is best in all of us.

The film screens at 7:00 p.m. at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate Q&A immediately following with director Gavin Hood and producer Ged Doherty. “Official Secrets” will be released in theatres on August 30, 2019.
