Johnny Mercer Night: 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' with Special Guest Julie Newmar

It's Johnny Mercer night at KCET's Cinema Series!
"Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", the 1954 Academy Award winner for Best Musical Score and nominee for Best Picture, makes a brief resurgence to the silver screen this Tuesday for a very special evening in honor of songwriter Johnny Mercer.
Set in 1850s Oregon, the film tells the story of a group of unruly lumberjack brothers whose misguided attempts at 'courting' love (more commonly referred to today as kidnapping) unleash a fury of both raucous follies and rousing dance numbers. Directed by Stanley Donen, with music by Saul Chaplin and Gene de Paul, and lyrics by Johnny Mercer, this magnificent movie musical stars Howard Keel, Jane Powell, Russ Tamblyn, Julie Newmar, and a fabulous cast of singers and dancers.
Prepare yourselves for a very special treat after the screening when host Pete Hammond leads a Q & A with THREE stars of the film, including prolific film, stage and television actress Julie Newmar (who portrayed bride Dorcas), and dancer/choreographers Dante DiPaolo (Matt) and Earl Barton (Harry)!
