'Ford v Ferrari' Zooms into the Winter KCET Cinema Series on October 22
Q&A immediately following with director James Mangold.
American car designer Carroll Shelby and driver Ken Miles battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for the Ford Motor Co. Together, they plan to compete against the race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966. Based on the remarkable true story, Academy Award®-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star alongside a supporting cast that includes Tracy Letts, Catriona Balfe, Jon Bernthal and Josh Lucas directed by James Mangold.
“It’s about friendship,” Mangold said. “It’s about people who work together and the kind of bonds you make making things together. The way I connected with it wasn’t really through racing. I felt something similar to what we feel making movies. Every movie is live or die. Every movie feels like you’ll be destroyed if it doesn’t work out. Every movie is a fight for the money. You’re always fighting and yelling for the space to create.”
The film screens at 7:00 p.m. at the ArcLight Cinemas in Sherman Oaks. Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A session. “Ford v Ferrari” will be released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on November 15, 2019.
The winter season of the KCET Cinema Series runs October 22 through December 10. The winter series is sold out and there will not be walk-up admissions available for the screenings.
