KCET's groundbreaking arts and culture program.

Following KCET's split from PBS, the station felt a renewed desire to focus on the community it has served for nearly 50 years, a community which is also regarded as the creative capital of America. Enter "Artbound," a transmedia series devoted to Southern California's dynamic artistic and cultural landscape, which first launched online in May 2012, with a monthly, one-hour televised component that debuted on August 16 of that year.

The project's online component features the perspectives of 60 writers, critics, and cultural experts, all well-traveled along the diverse and eclectic routes of Southern California's arts scene, many of whom are multidisciplinary artists in their own right.

A unique feature of "Artbound" is the readers' ability to interact and curate content via online votes. The subjects earning the highest votes are featured in video segments which can be viewed online, as well as on the televised version of "Artbound."

To date, "Artbound" has aired 17 original episodes and is preparing for its 5th season on the air.
