How to Download The PBS App On Your Roku

Download the free PBS App on your Roku TV devices to start streaming PBS shows. Here is a step-by-step guide.

1. Create a PBS Account

We recommend creating a PBS account before you download the app.

  • Be sure to use your personal email when signing up with PBS
  • To create an account click here
  • If you already have an account, see step 2

2. Search for the PBS Channel

  • To add the PBS Channel, go down and hover over Search
  • Type in PBS on the search bar
  • Hover over PBS Channel to the right

3. Add the PBS Channel on Your Roku

Once you've found the PBS app, you'll be able to add the channel to your library by downloading the application. After you've added the PBS app, you'll be able to open it once it finishes downloading.

  • Click Add Channel
  • Click Ok to complete adding PBS to your channel

4. Activate Your Channel

  • A screen will appear prompting you to activate the PBS Video channel. Select Activate Now.
  • Activation instructions appear on the screen along with a 7-character activation code. Every device has its own unique code, so double-check your device's code before proceeding.
  • From a mobile device or computer, visit pbs.org/activate and enter your unique code. Select Continue.

5. Sign In To Your Account

  • You will see a screen prompting you to sign in sign in with a Facebook, Google, or PBS account.
  • If you do not have one of these three account options, select "Don't have a PBS account? Create one here" or see step 1 for instructions to create a PBS account using a web browser. If you have the PBS Passport benefit, sign in with the same account you originally linked to your Passport benefit.

When you contributed to PBS Socal | KCET, you should have received an email with a link to activate Passport. Just click the link in the email to create your login. Once you do that, you’ll be able to use that same login to watch video on the PBS app on your Roku, Apple TV, Fire Stick, phone or tablet - or here at pbssocal.org.
