L.A. River Kayaking Program wins Project of the Year

The Corps Network has announced that the L.A. Conservation Corps' Paddle The River was selected as one of the Projects of Year. Launched last summer, the pilot program allowed participants to kayak down a section of the L.A. River, which the EPA had declared "navigable" in 2010.

The competition was not an easy one, as over 33,000 Corpsmembers participate in projects each year, with the help of approximately 265,000 community volunteers totaling 15.3 million hours of service.
