Recipe: Fast-Roasted Figs with Goat Cheese and Honey
Fruit and cheese for dessert, when done right, feels like the end of a long meal in a tiny, elegant French restaurant, even if what you ate before is decidedly un-French and un-fancy. Figs are especially perfect for such a dessert because they're candy-sweet and look like jewels, especially when topped with honey.
Fast-Roasted Figs
Figs
Goat cheese, softened
Honey
Pepper
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Cut your figs into quarters, leaving half an inch at the bottom so the fruit doesn't come apart.
Add about one teaspoon of cheese to the center of each fig so that it keeps the quarters open but isn't overstuffed.
Roast the figs for 12-15 minutes. Remove and drizzle with honey and sprinkle with freshly ground pepper, to taste. If this is a pre-meal treat instead of dessert, you can put a little bit of balsamic on the side to dip. Bon appétit!
