Craft Beer Drinking Events for July Fourth
This Independence Day, consider ditching the regular draft or crappy cans of mass-produced beer for something a little more local instead. We've already tipped you off to three great summer beers to complement the sunshine and fireworks, but what if you want a full-on party? There are going to be lots of fun craft beer drinking events around Los Angeles tomorrow; here are a few of our favorites.
Running from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the downtown brewery run by Alan Newman, the Angel City July 4th BBQ will feature discount brews and lots of grilled eats. Taqueria el Severo will be on hand, offering hot dogs and sliders to hungry participants while they down the signature Angel City hefeweizen or Berliner-Weisse. Of course, since the whole thing packs up at 4 p.m., you'll still have plenty of time to get to your fireworks destination.
All Day Recess at Public School 612
Downtown's Public School 612 bar will be offering a full day of discounts to craft beer drinkers. The popular Flower Street spot will run their happy hour pricing from 4 p.m. on, which means $4 pints from some of the best craft beer kegs in town. When you get hungry, Public School will also be offering happy hour snacks like the tres adobos tacos and fiery calamari.
Backyard Boogie at Beer Belly
Joining forces with beloved BBQ'ers The Park's Finest, Koreatown's Beer Belly looks to party on the patio for Independence Day. With a truncated session running from noon to 4 p.m. (leaving plenty of time to party elsewhere afterwards), Beer Belly will be pulling out plates of coconut beef, short rib and The Park's legendary cornbread. On the beer front, you can expect $4 cans of Dale's Pale Ale and lots -- we do mean lots -- of draft specials as well.
Monkish Brewing Growler Fill Discounts
Although their hours will be shortened -- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- on July 4th, Monkish Brewing will be giving drinkers the chance to take their beers with them, in the form of $2 growler fill discounts. For those unfamiliar with the process, here's a quick primer on beer growlers, and how awesome they really are. If you're sticking to the tap room only at Monkish, give their new hoppy Belgian beer Libertas a try. It's a crisp and refreshing way to wash down the summer's rays.
