Artist Glenn Kaino recreates the memory of his grandfather's East L.A. market in VR. Through family conversations, Kaino draws out past memories of the neighborhood market and translates it into a virtual reality space. Drawing from the life of Kaino’s grandfather, Akira Shiraishi, the exhibition explores the transgenerational trauma from the World War II Japanese American incarceration.
